Janey Buchan Political Song Collection

The Giving Voice Workshops website is pleased to host, and provide access to, a listing of materials held in the Janey Buchan Political Song Collection – a major collection of materials relating to political song and songs of social justice, together with other holdings of relevance from the fields of politics, social studies, and the performing arts. The collection comprises print, manuscript, and audiovisual media, dating from the 18th century to the present day. All five continents are represented, as are all shades of political opinion, although at least 90% of holdings originate from the left of centre.

The Collection is located at the University of Glasgow (Room 210, 7 University Gardens) where it is curated by John Powles.

Full sorting and listing of the thousands of items making up the Collection has been undertaken by Christopher Cassells, following the award of funding by the University of Glasgow Chancellor’s Fund.

All Enquiries should be sent to John.Powles@glasgow.ac.uk.
