Alistair Hulett Memorial Concert a Great Success

February 1st, 2011 | Posted by John Powles in Alistair Hulett | Folk | Scotland

Held on the first anniversary of Alistair’s death, the Alistair Hulett Memorial Concert at St Andrew’s in the Square on Friday 28th January as part of Celtic Connections was sold out well ahead of the event. Many of the songs, including some of Alistair’ own compositions, took politics and themes of social justice for their subjects, including a rousing Freedom Come All Ye from Dick Gaughan, and a deeply felt A Man’s a Man from Karine Polwart. Rory McLeod, Roy Bailey, and Nancy Kerr and James Fagan also contributed fine sets. Find out more about the Alistair Hulett Memorial Fund.
